The Ngong Road Children’s Foundation and the NGAO Foundation have partnered to enhance their impact on the lives of children and people living in challenging circumstances. Our joint efforts aim to bring together young adults who are on holiday breaks through educational and mentorship programs. These programs are designed to reduce the likelihood of drug abuse, early pregnancy, and immoral behavior.

The NGAO Foundation recently visited our office, and we had an engaging session where we introduced them to the various areas in which we implement positive change. This partnership is more than just a collaboration; it’s a promise to our community. We are dedicated to providing essential services, support, and opportunities. From education to healthcare, our efforts are making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Teresiah’s transformational journey to culinary mastery

Teresiah’s journey at Ngong Road Children’s Foundation began on the 12th of August, 2006, when she joined the program that would forever change her life. Starting at Jagiet Academy, she later moved to GSU Primary, where she completed her primary education. After passing the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination, she stepped into Enna School for her secondary education, full of dreams and determination. In pursuant of her passion, Teresiah joined Mountain Top College to study Hotel Management, a field that had always captivated her heart.

Upon graduating, Teresiah’s culinary talents took her to various esteemed hotels, Kisii Mart Supermarket, IBIS Styles, Waterbuck, and White Rhino hotels, where she sharpened her skills as a chef and pastry expert. Today, she proudly serves as the Chief Cook at Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, a place that feels like home, where her journey first began.

Throughout her life, Teresiah has benefited immensely from the opportunities provided by the organization. Programs in Sexual Reproductive Health, computer classes, and medical care all played a vital role in shaping the person she has become. But it was the summer camp that truly brought her the most joy—a memory she cherishes deeply.

Growing up, Teresiah was a reserved child, keeping to herself and having only a few close friends. But over the years, she blossomed into a self-principled, organized, and responsible young woman. Now married with two beautiful children, she reflects on her journey with profound gratitude.

Teresiah is deeply thankful to Ngong Road Children’s Foundation for holding her hand through every step of her educational journey. Her heart swells with appreciation for her sponsor, who never wavered in their support. Without this unwavering support, she knows that attending school would have been an impossible dream, given the challenges her family faced. Reagan’s Passion for Math and Medicine

My name is Reagan, I’m 13 years old and currently in 8th grade at Ndurarua Primary School. I have a passion for swimming, dancing, and playing soccer. Among my favorite subjects are Math, Science, and Agriculture.

As a junior math teacher for my peers, I felt honored when our teacher selected me for this role. I devote much of my free time to helping my friends with mathematics. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and aiding others in understanding the subject.

Healthcare is the most important industry and the demand for skilled healthcare professionals is constantly increasing. A BBIT Graduate

When Perpetual joined the program in 2010, it was like opening a door to a new world. Growing up in the slums of Dagoretti, getting quality education had always seemed like an impossible dream. But Perpetual was a bright, determined student ready to change her story. From her early days in primary school, she worked tirelessly, showing an unbreakable spirit and incredible hard work. By 2019, her dreams took her to one of the country’s top universities. There, she started a Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) degree course, a challenging four-year journey that she successfully completed in 2023.

Throughout her university years, Perpetual didn’t just shine in her studies, she also poured her heart into helping others. Every Saturday, she volunteered at the NRCF program, offering guidance and support to younger students who looked up to her. With her passion for photography, she captured and shared the stories of many, hoping to inspire others to support not just one student, but the entire program. Her impressive resume includes a contract position with Lido Nation, one of NRCF’s valued partners, where she worked as a blockchain website translator. Additionally, she was a vital member of the TechMates team, contributing her talents as a developer.  She is actively seeking a tech support position. 

Perpetual attributes her clear and promising future to the unwavering support of the program. Her family, particularly her grandmother, are beyond excited to have seen Perpetual putting on a graduation gown, something they never thought they would live to witness. “The education and development opportunities provided to her have been life-changing, paving the way for her to achieve her dream of hearing her name being mentioned as a graduate”, her grandmother smilingly said. She is now a graduate and on the verge of entering the professional world, armed with knowledge, experience, and a deep-seated gratitude for the support that has brought her this far.
