An Aspirational Journey to Legal Advocacy

Legal Advocacy

My name is Jennifer and I’m a 19-year-old with big dreams and a passion for helping others.  I have been a part of the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation since 2010 and I currently live with my aunt. In my free time, I love to read novels, play netball, and try out new recipes.

I’ve always had a deep desire to help others, so I want to pursue a career in law and criminology. I want to work on cases that are often ignored and gain more insight into solving puzzling cases. Being able to complete my high school education at Ruthimitu Girls High School last year was a great joy for me, and I am looking forward to joining a reputable University this year and starting my law course.

In my free time, I regularly visit the children’s home where I volunteer and help out. I also love attending the Saturday program and volunteering. My years in school have taught me valuable skills such as problem-solving, effective communication, and decision-making, which I intend to practice in my future career.

In a few years, I see myself as a respected figure in the community, working as a lawyer to help those in need. I strongly believe that my unwavering determination and kind heart will positively impact the lives of many. I am grateful to my sponsor and the NRCF fraternity for making it possible for me to get to these academic heights.

Transform a life today.

Fighting for a Brighter Future

My name is Moreen, a 15-year-old student at PCEA Kimori Junior High School. I’m a big fan of football, Taekwondo, and cooking. In school, I love English and business classes, and my all-time favorite book is “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins. It inspires me to keep pushing, no matter what.

Two years ago, I joined Ngong Road Children’s Foundation when I was in 4th grade and got the chance to go to Jagiet Academy, one of the program focus schools. Now, I get quality education, and I’m so grateful for that. I believe that every child deserves the same.

When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer. I want to fight for kids like me, making sure they have access to good schools, healthy food, and a chance to be heard. I want to be a voice for those who don’t have one because everyone deserves to be protected and have their rights respected. I believe in myself, a beautiful and strong girl who can make a real difference in the world. In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends and getting lost in a good book. One day, I dream of visiting Madagascar to see its amazing animals and experience its unique culture.

A Dream of Advocacy for Women’s Rights

My name is June and In 2015, I joined the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, and since then, my life has taken an incredible path of growth and purpose. I started my educational journey at the Nelson Mandela Academy, one of the program’s focus schools, which laid the groundwork for my academic excellence.

Currently, I am in Form 3 at Kenya High School. I am not just a diligent student but also someone with diverse interests and hobbies. Dancing, swimming, and cooking are my go-to activities. These pursuits are not just hobbies; they are outlets for self-expression and contribute to my well-rounded and balanced lifestyle.

Apart from academics, I recharge my mind during my free time at school. Whether reading novels, playing handball, or enjoying swimming, I understand the importance of maintaining mental well-being amidst my studies.

My dreams go beyond my current academic endeavors. I aspire to become a lawyer, driven by a deep-seated passion for advocating for women who have faced injustices. My focus is to support those who have been defiled, raped, or unfairly stripped of their property after the demise of their husbands.

A pivotal part of my journey with the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation has been the Sexual Reproductive Health training I received. This training has left a lasting impact on me, emphasizing the significance of abstinence. I am committed to sharing these valuable lessons with my peers, recognizing the importance of education in promoting healthy choices and responsible behavior.

In me, you see resilience, passion, and a commitment to positively impacting the world. As I continue to pursue my education and work towards my dream of becoming a lawyer, I hope to inspire others within the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation community and beyond. My story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the potential for positive change when individuals are empowered to pursue their dreams.

Transform a life.

Alumni Gathering 2023

The Ngong Road Children’s Foundation hosted its annual Alumni General Meeting at the Impala Ground on Ngong Road on December 3rd. More than 60 enthusiastic alumni attended, making it a day filled with smiles and anticipation.

The event kicked off with a delightful breakfast, creating a welcoming environment for alumni to connect and share their experiences. Callen Moraa, the assistant Alumni Coordinator and alumni case manager extended a warm welcome to our esteemed alumni, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and unity. During the event, Mr. Paul Dalizu delivered a compelling keynote address, stressing the significance of protocol, respect, perseverance, and trusting the process in personal and professional growth.

A summary of the alumni representative meeting with Paula Mayor, the program’s founder and president, provided insights into ongoing issues, paving the way for resolutions. Maurine Ngetich, the Data Protection Officer, outlined essential guidelines on personal information. Transparency in data usage by Ngong Road Children’s Foundation was ensured through the distribution of consent forms to the alumni.

The day’s highlight was the election of new alumni representatives, granting alumni a voice in shaping the foundation’s future. The day concluded with a delightful lunch, providing a relaxed setting for alumni to interact and capture memories during a dedicated photo session.

In the spirit of unity and progress, the Alumni Gathering 2023 proved to be a resounding success, strengthening the bond within Ngong Road Children’s Foundation’s alumni community.

Pursuing a Dream of Affordable Healthcare

 affordable healthcare

My name is Faith, and I’m a 16-year-old student. I love dancing, reading novels, and playing hockey. In fourth grade, I joined the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, and because of their support, I was able to attend Nelson Mandela Academy, which is one of the Programme-Focused Schools. Currently, I’m studying at Precious Blood Riruta and I am in Form 3.

I like biology and chemistry the most because they allow me to think critically. I enjoy exploring the complexities of life and trying out chemical reactions. During my free time at school, I like to read and hang out with my friends.

I want to pursue a career in medicine and help people who can’t afford expensive treatments. I plan to establish a medical facility that fully funds treatment so that everyone has access to quality healthcare. What motivates me is making a positive difference in the lives of others.

I’m determined to use my knowledge and skills to bring about change in the healthcare sector. Empathy, compassion, and dedication to serving the community are the values that drive me toward making a lasting impact. With hard work, perseverance, and the support of Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, I believe I can accomplish my dream of providing affordable healthcare for all.
