Entrepreneurship Programme

Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) has introduced employment as a fourth pillar to its existing three-pillar strategy. This new pillar includes both review of employment strategy and employment training Initiatives.

Objective of entrepreneurship training:
NRCF has established a structured programme that aims to equip interested and motivated NRCF Alumni with the necessary skills and mindset for identifying and launching new business ventures.

Programme approach

Phase1: Application and selection for training

The candidates will be required to apply for the opportunity and pitch their business idea to the “Employment officer” Only those who qualify will be allowed to enroll in the programme. The alumni must present a draft business idea that includes these three C’s:

(1) having a concept/company of what the business is all about,

(2) identifying who your customer or client will be, and

(3) figuring out who the competitors are to your business.

Phase 2: In depth training and business development

The selected candidates shall be taken through an intensive 12 week (once per week during Saturdays) training on the following broad topics.

  1. Start up – business development
  2. Growth – marketing plan and financial management
  3. Maturity – business sustainability and value addition

The training methodology is based on practical experience, mentorship and coaching. Upon completion of the three topics, candidates will be taken through business plan development and the art of pitching their concept to potential investors.

Phase 3: Business funding application and Toolkit support

Upon completion of the training and business plan project, the participants are required to apply for grants and loans from the funding organizations. NRCF provides a toolkit to help each beneficiary start a small business. The toolkit includes essential equipment needed to start a business upto a limit of 30k

Phase 4: Business launch

The candidate start their business using the toolkit and NRCF conducts monitoring and evaluation to ensure the business is launched and working within three months of graduation
