The Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) is proud to announce the launch of Kenya’s first-of-its-kind blockchain lab! This initiative is a testament to the power of community and the transformative potential of our Techmates program.
The NRCF’s mission is to empower underprivileged youth in Nairobi through education and support, leading them towards employment opportunities. The Techmates program plays a crucial role in achieving this by equipping graduates with valuable digital marketing and development skills. This strong foundation made NRCF the perfect partner for Lido Nation, a Cardano staking pool, when they sought to establish a foothold in the Kenyan tech landscape.
From Vision to Reality: How the Techmates Programme Paved the Way
Our partnership with Lido Nation began last year when they expressed interest in collaborating on potential training programs within Kenya. Darlington, Lido Nation’s co-founder, recognized the talent pool nurtured by the Techmates program and initiated a developer mentorship program with two promising graduates. Simultaneously, Stephanie, the other co-founder, embarked on a unique “test project” with another group, focusing on translating blockchain articles into Swahili, a widely spoken language in Kenya.
The success of these initial projects solidified the potential for a dedicated blockchain lab. By leveraging the skills and knowledge gained through the Techmates program, NRCF was able to provide Lido Nation with a team of talented blockchain translators and developers. This collaboration not only benefitted Lido Nation but also empowered our graduates to become valuable contributors to the burgeoning blockchain community.
