It’s Back-To-School Time

The halls of learning are buzzing with excitement as the children of Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) head back to school! With the start of a new year and term, NRCF is proud to ensure that all our students are fully equipped and ready to focus entirely on their education.

Thanks to the continuous support of our community and sponsors, the children received comprehensive preparations that make their return to school smooth and stress-free.

Supplies for Success

We believe that every child deserves the tools they need to succeed. This term, NRCF provided all participating students with a complete set of essential school supplies. This included:

  • Textbooks and stationery: Ensuring every student has the necessary reading and writing materials from day one.
  • Uniforms: Providing clean, properly fitting uniforms so children can attend class with confidence and pride.
  • Backpacks: Durable bags to safely carry their books and supplies between home and school.

A Head Start with Shopping

A special highlight this term was the dedicated shopping for our students, particularly those transitioning to new levels, like high school. This initiative went beyond basic supplies to cover all necessary items for their daily routine and boarding life, where applicable. This shopping included:

  • Personal Hygiene Essentials: Ensuring Access to Necessary Items for Health and Well-being.
  • Comfort Items: Helping them settle comfortably into their school environments.

The Impact of Support

By supplying these essentials, NRCF removes significant financial barriers for the families and allows the students to concentrate on what matters most: learning. When a child doesn’t have to worry about where their next notebook or uniform will come from, their potential for academic achievement soars.

This comprehensive preparation is more than just providing items; it is investing in the dignity and future of each child. We wish all our students a successful, engaging, and fulfilling new school term!

NRCF Hosts a Successful 2025 Annual General Meeting

On Saturday, December 6th, the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at City Prime in Ngando. The event was a powerful gathering, uniting over 300 families and more than 250 NRCF beneficiaries to celebrate a year of significant achievements and renew the commitment to transforming lives through education in Nairobi.

Key 2025 Successes Highlight the Education-to-Employment Model

The 2025 report showcased the expansive reach of the NRCF program:

  • 333 active beneficiaries received comprehensive support.
  • 264 alumni continued to receive guidance and mentorship.
  • 45 graduates successfully completed their post-secondary education this year.

The program’s core goal—sustainable employment—was strongly validated by an impressive 70% employment rate among alumni. This figure clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of NRCF’s education-to-employment model.

STEM and Digital Learning Drive Student Futures

Digital learning and early exposure to STEM careers proved to be a major highlight this year within the Elimu Hub. The initiative is successfully inspiring the next generation of technologists:

  • A notable 56% of Grade 9 learners selected STEM pathways, reflecting growing student interest and confidence in science and technology fields.

Launching the 5-Year Strategic Plan: Vision 2030

A major focus of the AGM was the official update on NRCF’s five-year strategic plan. This ambitious roadmap aims to significantly scale the Foundation’s reach:

  • Goal: Increase the number of active students supported to 1,000 by 2030.
  • Next Step: NRCF plans to support 100 new students in 2026 as part of its goal to reduce the waiting list to zero by its 20th anniversary.

Parents were fully engaged in the discussion, which also covered plans for strengthening program delivery and deepening support for families and local communities.

NRCF extends heartfelt appreciation to the partners and friends who made this year’s AGM a success, including: Bimeda Limited, Braeburn School, Kimfay East Africa, Teleflex, and Alesan Sisters
Your support continues to brighten the lives of our children and strengthen our community.

Alumnus sponsors a child.

Emmanuel always recognized how valuable his education was. With the support of his sponsor behind him, he approached his studies with genuine gratitude and unwavering commitment. Throughout his school years, Emmanuel demonstrated remarkable determination; he didn’t just meet expectations, he exceeded them. Despite the challenges and distractions that came his way, he stayed focused and consistently worked hard.

His journey is a powerful reminder of how meaningful support, paired with a student’s dedication, can open doors to life-changing opportunities. Watching Emmanuel remain true to his dream of completing his education and building a brighter future was truly inspiring. Yet his story didn’t stop once he secured employment. In a heartfelt expression of appreciation and generosity, Emmanuel made a decision that speaks volumes about his character. He chose to become a sponsor himself.

Student Sponsorship Achievement Story: Abishag’s Journey.

Meet Abishag, a bright young girl who joined our organization in 2021. Today, she is a powerful student sponsorship achievement story, showing how access to educational support, financial assistance, and mentorship can transform a student’s life. Abishag’s journey is an example of how sponsorship programs empower underprivileged students to discover their potential and achieve their dreams.

Student Sponsorship Achievement Story

Over the years, she has blossomed in both academics and personal growth. With the consistent financial support provided by the program, she was able to stay in school, access learning materials, and even contribute to some of the basic needs at home. This support allowed her to focus on her education without the constant worry of financial strain.

Beyond material support, the mentorship and guidance offered through the program helped her gain confidence and build strong life skills. She takes part in extracurricular activities in school, in the badminton club. Through the wins and loses she has gained experiences that allowed her to step into her full potential.

Today, she is thriving. She’s working hard towards her academic goals and is passionate about giving back to her community. Her story is a powerful testament to what can happen when compassionate individuals and organizations invest in the future of a child.

You too, can become part of the story-makers by offering student sponsorship. With this their achievement story is because of your contribution or donations. Together, let’s help more children find hope for their future through education.
