NRCF Leadership Changes (Programme Director Position Elimination)

Introduction

Given the global pandemic COVID-19, Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) and Karibu Loo Limited (KLL) are focused on preserving resources to the maximum extent possible. Our goal is to survive the economic downturn so we can continue to pursue our mission of educating children and transforming lives in the future.    In the context of dramatically reduced levels of activity at NRCF and KLL, FoNR has made the difficult decision to streamline leadership and eliminate the Programme Director role which leads both NRCF and KLL. That means Maureen’s role has been eliminated effective 23rd March 2020. We wish Maureen everything good in her future and thank her for her work with NRCF and KLL. Maureen has made significant contributions to the organization.

Purpose of this communication

Our experience tells us it is important that you hear from us quickly – before incomplete or inaccurate information gets to you from other sources as the communication plan unfolds. We wish to emphasize that this change is a result of the economic situation and was very difficult. Maureen Mulievi was NOT fired, her position was eliminated due to the economic impact of COVID-19.

New Leadership

  • FoNR does not plan to replace the Director position that Maureen held and will operate the organizations with independent leadership and governance.
  • Emmanuel and Steve will continue in current roles at KLL as Business Development Manager and Operation manager respectively. They shall report to the KLL Operating Committee which is lead by FoNR Board member (Keith)
  • Kelvin – has agreed to take on the leadership role for NRCF as Programme Manager. He shall report to the Crisis Management Team which comprises NRCF Board Chair (Robert), FoNR Chief Operation Officer (Amy) and FoNR president (Paula).

ConclusionAlthough we face many challenges in the coming months due to COVID-19, FoNR leaders are convinced that this global pandemic and economic downturn can and should help people around the globe understand that we are all in this together. We believe this attitude will serve us well as we navigate COVID-19. We are committed to remaining focused on weathering this storm so that we can continue with our mission of transforming lives.
